Chicagoland Speedway is a 1.5 miles (2.4 km) tri-oval speedway in Joliet, Illinois, southwest of Chicago. The speedway opened in 2001 and currently hosts NASCAR racing including the opening event in the NASCAR Cup Series Chase for the Championship.
Exploration Station…a children’s museum is a hands-on exploration and discovery museum for children and their families, teachers and other caregivers. Children of all ages are welcome at the museum, however, the majority of the exhibits are designed for children between the ages of 2-8 years old. There is a toddler area for the little ones, children 36” and under are allowed in the toddler area.
A rich tapestry of woods and prairie line the Kankakee River. The paved trails are perfect for biking, walking, inline skating, exploring the Indian Caves, and cross-country skiing. Enjoy the many farm animals including ponies, rabbits, and goats.
This newly renovated complex hosts baseball and softball tournaments on six fields, four of which have lights. Diamond Sports Complex will also feature baseball and softball leagues, camps, clinics, and other programs.
The iconic Balmoral Park will welcome equestrians from near and far, for 13 weeks of hunter/jumper competition. Rich in thoroughbred and harness racing history, Balmoral Park is home to HITS’ Midwest show.
The B. Harley Bradley House is a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home, constructed in the Prairie School style, that was constructed in Kankakee, Illinois in 1900-1901.

Kankakee Community College (KCC) is a two-year institution of higher learning located in Kankakee, northeastern Illinois, United States. The main campus is located on the southern border of the city of Kankakee and spans 178 acres (0.72 km2) along the banks of the Kankakee River. KCC is accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the North Central Association of Colleges. The college was founded in 1966.
Strickler Planetarium, located on the campus of Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois, is a state-of-the-art digital planetarium dedicated to educating the public about the natural world.
Reed’s Canoe Trips provide people of all ages (minimum age 3 and minimum weight 35 pounds) with “an adventure close to home.” The three trips offered range in length from approximately 2 hours to a full 6 hours on the water, and are suitable for either new or experienced canoeists.
Softball leagues bloom in the spring and carry on through the fall in twosessions at RiverRoad Softball Complex. These fields are available for private rentals, corporate outings, family reunions, and birthday parties.
The Manteno Veterans’ Home opened in 1986, located east of the city of Manteno in Kankakee County. The home is located on a 122 acre campus and comprised of five major nursing care units and two ancillary service and support buildings. They provide care for up to 294 Skilled Care and Special Needs Veterans.
